Now that I have gotten that out, time for my TRUE feelings. It was week 1. You put the bus on the BART track and throw the team under it. There were a number of teams that were expected to win who lost this weekend. Week 1 is the first time the entire starting team, for any team, gets to play together. Give all teams 3 games before you truly evaluate them. The Giants lost their first 3 games, last season, and fans wrote them off as losers. They ended up winning the Super Bowl. The Chargers were 1 and 4 after the first 5 games of last season. They ended up in the AFC Championship game. Think about it.
To put your mind into a positive set before next week, think about this. The Broncos never took their starters out of the game. The final 2 drives the Raiders had were over 80 yards each and they scored both times. That should tell you we support a good team. They got off to a bad start.
Game analysis:
- The refs were not calling the early Broncos penalties. On the opening drive, the Raiders moved the ball to the Broncos 9 yard line. There were 2 penalties that the refs blew, a pass interference in the end zone and a defensive holding penalty. That would have changed the flavor of the game, because the Raiders would have been up 7-0.
- The Raiders defense got shook early by a 5'10" 180lbs. wide receiver. For whatever reason Deangelo Hall would not let anyone else cover that receiver. That will not happen, again.
- The 2 personal foul penalties called against Hall were questionable. That was the first time I heard of an "Excessive Punishment To The Runner" penalty. The NFL will soon became a touch football league. Throwing the runner out of bounds....he did try to hold him up when he noticed they were out of bounds. The Broncos proceeded to sling Raiders out of bounds without penalty.
The Raiders play the Chiefs in Kansas City on Sunday. THEY WILL WIN. You must stay positive, as a fan, in order to send positive energy to the team. (smile)
Keep The Faith,
Raider-Man, out!
